We’re not sure what’s in the Gotham water; that stars alluded to a Season 3 Harley Quinn cameo that never came to pass, but water is the least of Bruce Wayne’s troubles in Season 4. Instead, Monday’s two-part season finale revealed that a major DC baddie has been right under our noses all along, and will undoubtedly return next year.

Harley Quinn isn’t the only Batman villain to make their presence known in Gotham’s Season 3 finale, as the biggest Bat-baddie of all is upon us. No, not the Clown Prince of Crime, but rather Bruce Wayne’s twisted teacher Ra’s al Ghul, as a new finale featurette reveals Alexander Siddig in the role.

Gotham’s approach to Batman continuity has been head-scratching, to say the least, but perhaps none more-so than suggestions Harley Quinn might make an early appearance, absent any official Joker. Well, according to star David Mazouz, there’s no two ways about the fan-favorite making some debut in the two-part Season 3 finale.

The DC universes of TV are still going strong after Supergirl, Flash and Arrow have said goodbye for summer, leaving FOX’s Gotham to bring it home with a two-hour finale next week. The indignities kept coming, as Warner Bros. ordered sweeping rewrites to this floundering project before landing Planet of the Apes remake maestro Matt Reeves to fill the directorial vacuum.
