You know him as Neo from The Matrix and as Ted from Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure. But did you know Keanu Reeves has a strange habit of playing guys named John? He was Johnny Utah in the original Point Break, Johnny Mnemonic in, uh, Johnny Mnemonic, and John Wick in John Wick and the new John Wick: Chapter 2. And there are lots more examples. The dude likes playing Johns. As Keanu himself might say: Whoa. That’s just one of the facts featured in the newest episode of You Think You Know Movies!

‘John Wick: Chapter 2’ Review: Second Verse, Just as Good as the First
In 2014, a pair of veteran stunt coordinators introduced the world to John Wick, a former assassin who rages out of retirement to seek revenge on the man who killed his puppy and stole his car. With action as sharp and seemingly seamless as the impeccable suits worn by its eponymous protagonist, John Wick reinvigorated a genre bloated with CGI and dominated by implausibly acrobatic vehicles. In 2017, Keanu Reeves is back with John Wick: Chapter 2, a righteous follow-up that’s bigger and maybe not better, but just as good as its predecessor.

If someone asked you to recall Keanu Reeves’ earliest acting gig, you might think of Parenthood or Babes in Toyland. As it turns out, the intensely likable star of John Wick: Chapter 2 started his career a bit earlier than that, and like us non-famous folks, Reeves’ first job wasn’t exactly pleasant; in fact, it was kiiiiiind of awkward, but that just makes this little-seen footage of Reeves as a teenage reporter on a Canadian kids’ show all the more rewarding.

We have a few days before the end of 2016, but more importantly, less than two months before John Wick is thinking he’s back again — this time with a canine upgrade, some new assassins, and a delightful reunion with Matrix co-star Laurence Fishburne. In keeping with the spirit of the season, Lionsgate has released a new photo from John Wick: Chapter 2, giving us a preview of that mini-reunion along with a few details about Fishburne’s role in Wick’s world.

If you haven’t been paying attention to Twitter for the last hour (or if you’re an enlightened soul who manages to function without an account), then you may have missed the first official photo from John Wick: Chapter Two. Yeah, Keanu Reeves is thinking he’s back, and this time…he’s bringing his tailor. In all seriousness, we could use more action movies about sharp-dressed assassins with great hair who love dogs.

There’s Sad Surfer Action Keanu. And then there’s Lawyer Keanu, who returns to the screen this fall in the new legal thriller The Whole Truth.

25 Years Ago, Keanu Reeves Had One of the Craziest Weeks in Movie History
This year marks the 25th anniversary of two very special Keanu Reeves films: Point Break and Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey. But what makes this particular anniversary so significant is that these movies weren’t released within a few months of each other — they were released just seven days apart. It may very well have been the weirdest and most wonderful week in new movie release history, and one that hasn’t really been replicated since.

Do You Remember?
If you were a fan of Bill & Ted in the late ’80s and early ’90s, then you probably recall a time when Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves’ rad, time-traveling high school party dudes were pretty much everywhere. They had their own animated TV spinoff, a Halloween special and even a breakfast cereal (“the most triumphant part of this balanced breakfast!”). What you might not remember is their incredibly short-lived live-action TV series — and who could blame you?

Here’s Another ‘Bill and Ted 3’ Update From Alex Winter to Get Your Hopes Up
Bill & Ted 3 has been in the works for years, and while that prolonged development time isn’t any worse than, say, waiting for a new Pixar sequel, keep in mind that it’s been 25 years since Bill S. Preston, Esquire and Ted Theodore Logan last graced the big screen. Over the last few years, both Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter have assured fans that they’re very much committed to making the sequel once they’ve perfected the script and budget (and cleared their respective schedules). The latest update comes from Winter, who says the duo could reunite later this year or early next year to film Bill & Ted 3 — which definitely sounds like progress, but don’t start holding your breath just yet.

Over the course of a human life, a person’s coolness quotient should follow a basic pattern. Infants, with their constant crying and inability to clean their own buttocks, are decidedly uncool. Children occasionally say cool things, but are mostly little spaz-bots intent on making everything sticky...
