CMA Fest is like one big gathering of every country star you’ve ever heard of and then some. So surprise collaborations — like Blake Shelton with the legendary Oak Ridge Boys — are sure to pop up during the festival.
A growing list of 2016 CMT Music Awards performers have been announced. The show is being billed as "Country Music's Loudest Night," and its all-star lineup includes some of the biggest names in country music.
In January of 1982, the Oak Ridge Boys released "Bobbie Sue" as the first single from their album of the same name. The song was co-written by Adele Tyler, Dan Tyler and Wood Newton. In April, the tune earned the Oaks their sixth No. 1 single on Billboard's Hot Country Singles chart; it also found success on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 (No. 12) and the Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks chart (No. 19). Inside, Newton tells The Boot about writing the hit single.
