Tara Thompson has release her debut single, "Someone to Take Your Place," as well as its accompanying music video.

The clip features Thompson wreaking a little bit of havoc in a dive bar, as she flirts with all the guys and tries to find, as the song's title says, "someone to take your place." While she's clearly having fun, the sassy singer shows that she's not one to be messed with right from the get go: The "Someone to Take Your Place" video begins with Thompson dragging a burning letterman jacket through the bar's parking lot.

Thompson killing time while completing one of the most menial chores there is -- washing your clothes at the laundry mat -- with lyrics appearing on everything from the towels she's folding to the windows of the arcade where she goes to spend time between wash and dry cycles.

The East Tennessee native (and third cousin to country icon Loretta Lynn) co-wrote "Someone to Take Your Place," and she's adamant that her sound stays true to her country roots. After moving to Nashville at 18, the singer spent time playing at one of Music City's most popular Broadway honky-tonks, Tootsie's Orchid Lounge.

"When I first started writing with other people, I'd go in and say, 'All right, here's the deal: It's gotta be really country, no pop, and there can't be no man-bashing. Because if anyone is cheating, it's gonna be me, by God. And no love songs,'" she says. "I actually got fired from Tootsie's because my set was just too old-school. I saw Loretta the other day and told her that I finally got a record deal, and she said, 'It's about damn time!'"

Thompson has joined the roster at Scott Borchetta's Big Machine Label Group, and her debut album is set for release later this year. She's currently out on the road with the Next Women of Country Tour, also featuring Jennifer NettlesBrandy Clark and Lindsay Ell. A list of upcoming dates can be found at TaraThompson.com.
