Tenille Townes’ Distinctive Voice Elevates Keith Urban’s ‘Stupid Boy’ [Listen]
Tenille Townes has released a cover of Keith Urban's 2006 hit "Stupid Boy" on Amazon Music. The rising singer is both a fan of Urban's and counts him among her musical inspirations.
"Keith Urban, his music and his live shows have been so inspiring to me," Townes says. "This song stuck with me from the first time I heard [it]."
Townes' "Stupid Boy" cover puts a fresh spin on Urban's track, and shows a side of the up-and-comer that fans haven't really seen of Townes yet. Her distinctive voice only adds to the raw songwriting.

“There’s an intensity in the lyric and the emotion of the song that makes it a favorite of mine to sing and stand for,” Townes says. She adds that she is grateful to have had the opportunity to record her take on the song.
Written by Dave Berg, Deanna Bryant and Sarah Buxton, "Stupid Boy" is a single from Urban's Love, Pain & the Whole Crazy Thing album (it's actually a cover, as Buxton previously recorded the track). Urban's version of the song peaked at No. 3 on the country charts and won him a Grammy for Best Male Country Vocal Performance.
Being able to tackle an Urban song is no easy task, but Townes has made it her own. One of the most exciting new artists on the country music scene, she's setting the bar high and hitting the mark every time.
Townes will hit the road with Miranda Lambert on Lambert's Roadside Bars & Pink Guitars Tour in the fall, and has newly announced dates opening for Maren Morris on her calendar, as well. Her highly anticipated full-length album is in the works.
