The City of Lawton will be conducting its annual Trash-Off on April 28th. Take advantage of this event to get rid of some of the items that you would normally have to pay to have hauled off.
A recycling center will be set up in the parking lot of the McMahon Auditorium located at 801 Northwest Ferris Avenue and you may bring your unwanted debris there from 8am to 3pm.
There will be lots of fun activities throughout the day as well including free hot dogs and refreshments for all participants (while supplies last of course). Free t-shirts for the first 300 volunteers; live entertainment, prizes and an antique car display. The Lawton Police department will be on hand providing free picture ID and finger prints for the the kids and there will also be document shredding available for residents (non-business).
New this year, the City of Lawton will host an "elderly pickup". Three trucks with trailers will drive around Lawton to those who preregistered for the pickup. Crews will take away any material a two person team can lift.
The City of Lawton & Lawton Beautiful Inc will be hosting "Re-Tree Lawton". The residents of Lawton will be given the opportunity to purchase selected trees at a nominal fee. This project is aimed to help enhance the beauty of our community.
