Review: Thomas Rhett Gets Crowd Going ‘Bonkers’ at RodeoHouston [PICTURES]
Thomas Rhett made his RodeoHouston debut on Wednesday night (March 15), in front of a crowd of more than 73,000 people.
After asking the audience to show him just what 73,000 screaming people sounded liked, Rhett got the crowd to join him in singing the the chorus of his song "Get Me Some of That," the fourth single from his debut album. The audience also sang along later in Rhett's set, when he played one of his new, unreleased songs, "Craving You," despite the fact that the tune hasn't been released on an album yet, and that Rhett only began playing it live recently.
"All my childhood dreams are coming true right now," Rhett said from stage after playing his current single, "Star of the Show." "I can't really see any of you, but I can feel your energy, and it's bonkers."
Another highlight of Rhett's set came during the song "Vacation": Although the rodeo's dirt floor isn't quite the same as sand, Rhett got down off of the rotating RodeoHouston stage for the beached-themed tune, and walked around the circular arena to give the people in the stands some love. Throughout the night, he also treated fans to his hit singles "Crash and Burn," "T-Shirt" and "Die a Happy Man."
Rhett kicked off his Home Team Tour on Feb. 23; Kelsea Ballerini, Russell Dickerson and Ryan Hurd are acting as openers for the 30-plus-city run. The singer and his wife also recently announced that they are not only expecting a baby (a girl!), they’re also adopting a child from Africa.
RodeoHouston 2017, which runs throughout March, features a star-studded concert lineup, including Luke Bryan, Brad Paisley, Chris Stapleton and more. More information can be found on the rodeo's official website.
