Thomas Rhett’s ‘Look What God Gave Her’ Video Celebrates His Girls
Look what God gave Thomas Rhett: two beautiful little girls and a gorgeous wife who lifts him up. The superstar is dishing it back in his new "Look What God Gave Her" music video, which invites his family into the spotlight but really, celebrates all women.
When the video starts, we just see Rhett playing his guitar in a white room as the sun is coming up. The camera flashes to the country star as he walks to his drum kit in the 'sky' — yes, Rhett is in "heaven," as the lyrics suggest. Of course wife Lauren is there, and so are the couple's two young daughters, Willa Gray and Ada James — but that wasn't initially in the video plan.
"They weren’t supposed to be in the video," Rhett tells People of his little girls, who are 3 and 1. "They were standing back there, had their little ballerina skirts on and during the middle of a shot, they just ran out there — and we kept the shot."
"'Cause any time they’re there, it just makes it sweeter," adds the proud father.
Other women appear throughout the clip, and they're not immediately recognizable — because they're not actors.
"Rather than hire actors for the video, we connected with the founder of Love One and her family, the women of Thistle Farms and an incredible artist who also did our art for the single cover to come be featured. Being able to spotlight them and celebrate these strong women along with my wife and daughters was such a special experience," Rhett further tells the Boot.
"When we started talking about the music video, it was natural to include Lauren, but I also wanted to include other inspirational women who are doing some amazing things," he says.
Rhett co-wrote "Look What God Gave Her" with his father Rhett Akins, along with Julian Bunetta, John Ryan and J Cash. The song will be on his upcoming album Center Point Road, a 16-song album releasing on May 31.
Rhett will be heading out on his Very Hot Summer Tour beginning on April 24. Dustin Lynch and Russell Dickerson will join on select dates, as will Akins.
