The Armed Forces Day Parade, hailed as one of the largest parades in the Nation is gearing up for it's start tomorrow morning in downtown Lawton.

The City of Lawton has published road closings and the timing for those that may be affected by the parade route.

Large areas of Downtown Lawton are slated to be closed to drivers beginning at 5:15 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2019, to accommodate for the Armed Forces Day Parade. The below outlines an approximate schedule for closing streets, submitted from the City of Lawton Streets & Traffic Control Divisions.


5:15 am-       Start closing the Pre-Staging Area (largely side streets along SW C Avenue, SW E Avenue, SW 1st Street)

6:00 am-       Close C Ave from SW 6th St to SW 11th St.

6:30 am-       Place Message Board at 20th St & Gore and put up Signs to SW 11th St.

Set up Detour signs from I-44 to Railroad and signs up to SW 11th St.

7:00 am-       Close SW 11th St from D Ave to Gore Blvd.

7:30 am-       Close Side Streets on Ft Sill Blvd from Gore Blvd to NW Ferris Ave and

On NW Ferris Ave from Ft Sill Blvd to SW 3rd St.

8:00 am-       Close NW Ferris Ave at NW 3rd St and NW Ft Sill Blvd.

Close NW Ft Sill Blvd from Gore Blvd to NW Ferris Ave.

10:00 am-    PARADE STARTS

11:00 am-    When last entry leaves the Pre-Staging Area , the sweeper should  follow at a distance.

Close the Parade Route and open the Pre-Staging Area.
