Jimmie Allen says he just kept showing up, and eventually people started to pay attention. The country newcomer reveals more of his unlikely path to becoming a signed artist during Ep. 5 of Jimmie Allen All In. It's a path with plenty of ground before and behind him.

During this episode of Allen's six-part documentary he explains the events that led to him signing with Broken Bow Records in 2017. He also reveals that growing up, he was a big Montgomery Gentry fan thanks to his dad. One day at the gym he ran into Troy Gentry and soon after the pair became friends. There's a great moment in this clip of Allen's father smiling alongside the late singer.

“I have never seen my dad smile that big," Allen says in a video, premiering exclusively on Taste of Country.

Jimmie Allen's Live RISERS Performance Is Irresistible

During the previous episode Allen chronicled how he became homeless soon after moving to Music City. He didn't have any friends either, so the "Best Shot" singer just started turning up at writer's nights. Eventually he met writer and producer Ash Bowers, which set off a chain of events that led to him signing with BBR. Suddenly this slow crawl toward his dream hit the fast-forward button — within weeks of a record label showcase he was signing a record deal.

During the first three episodes of All In Allen talks about having $21 and no plan when he moved to Nashville from Milton, Del. Family and friends appear throughout the planned six-part docu-series. The artist to watch and 2018 Taste of Country Music Festival performer mixes country, rock, pop and R&B to create a sound that's familiar, but very unique.
