Tours Of The Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge Kick Off This Spring
Lawton is always seeing an influx of new residents thanks to Fort Sill. And one of Lawton's best features is its proximity to the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. And whether you're new to the area or have been here your whole life, you'll definitely learn something new about the refuge during a tour with the Friends of the Wichitas.
Earlier this year, the Friends of the Wichitas announced its tours calendar for 2026. The tours kicked off on March 14 with a historic sites tour, and will continue with a second historic sites tour on Saturday, March 21.
The Friends of the Wichitas will offer various tours now and through the fall.
Those interested still have a chance to go on the historic sites tour with the Friends of the Wichitas. The next one is this Saturday, and registration is available on the nonprofit's official website.
More tours are planned for the spring, summer, and fall, and offer different ways to see the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge in different ways and in various seasons. Below is the full schedule of the 2026 tours offered by the Friends of the Wichitas.
