Yelp Named This New Oklahoma Restaurant As The Best In the South

The restaurant scene is booming in Oklahoma. Over the past decade, Oklahoma has rose in the ranks of accomplished chefs, restaurants and bars. One of those chefs is Chef Kevin Lee who opened his modern Korean steakhouse in Edmond, Oklahoma earlier this year.

His restaurant, Birdie's by Chef Kevin Lee, was just named as one of the Best New Restaurants in the South of 2024 by Yelp.

Chef Lee's previous restaurant, Birdie's Fried Chicken, went through a rebrand and transformed into Birdie's by Chef Kevin Lee. The previous restaurant offered a concept of fried chicken that mixed American and Korean chicken frying traditions. The new restaurant expands its menu and visitor's pallets with dishes like kimchi pancakes, hot stone bibimbap and, of course, steaks.

Chef Lee is not just known in Oklahoma. He has appeared on national television, including cook shows "Beat Bobby Flay," "Alex vs. America," "Guy's Grocery Games," "Superchef Grudge Match" and "Tournament of Champions." In an episode of "Superchef Grudge Match," Chef Lee went against another Oklahoma chef, Chef Jonathan Stranger, who is the chef/owner of three Oklahoma City restaurants: Osteria, El Coyote and Bar Cicchetti.

Easily the most thoughtful and exciting meal I’ve had in the OKC area in some time. Favorite dishes were Sweet Potato Burrata (otherworldly), the Sticky Spicy Ribs (unreal flavor, we cleaned the bones), Denver Steak (so perfectly marinated; the trio of sauces were a treat), and Black Sesame Crème Brûlée (a delicious surprise). Special thought was obviously given to Birdie’s ambience. Everything from the music to the moody lighting added to our experience.
