Spring has sprung in Oklahoma! One of the best parts about spring in Oklahoma is all of the beautiful flowers, especially tulips. And a new you pick tulip farm is set to open this weekend near Altus, Oklahoma.

Sweet Pickins Pumpkin Patch opened near Altus in 2021 and has since offered a pumpkin patch and activities during the fall season. This spring will be the farm's first time to offer the opportunity to pick your own tulips! In December of 2024, Sweet Pickins posted to the farm's official Facebook page that they will open in the spring of 2025 for a tulip farm.

They spent the winter planting 40,000 tulip bulbs to be ready for spring, and it looks like the tulips are finally ready to be picked! Sweet Pickins has been keeping their social media followers up to date on the tulips and when they would possibly be ready for an official opening day. Due to the weather, Sweet Pickins has had to delay the opening date of the tulip farm

Sweet Pickins tulip farm will officially open on Saturday, March 22.

But now the wait is over! Earlier this week, Sweet Pickins announced that they would officially be opening the tulip farm on Friday, March 22. Sweet Pickins will celebrate the opening with a Tulip Festival at the farm. The tulip farm at Sweet Pickins will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $5 and free for children two and younger.

Admission includes access to the tulip field, family games, photo areas and goat petting! All tulips and daffodils will be $2 a piece and will be wrapped in a bouquet. Sweet Pickins is planning to open three weekends this spring for optimal tulip picking.

Lake Altus-Lugert and SWOK's Underwater Ghost Town

Like most rare things, conditions have to be just right to see one of Oklahoma's hidden gems. In years of good and average rainfall, the lost town of Lugert stays buried beneath the waves... but in dry years, especially those stricken by drought, you can walk around this pre-statehood townsite while enjoying one of Oklahoma's prettiest areas, Quartz Mountain State Park.
