The song would instead be recorded by Toby Keith, who would take it to #1 in 2001. The record company instead decided to release "Austin" as the lead single from Shelton's self-titled debut album Shortly after, Giant Records closed and Shelton was folded into its parent company, Warner Bros. Records. "Austin" went on spend 5 weeks at #1.
