Today's focus is on a young singer/songwriter who came to Nashville to write, in his own words, one song. And today's featured song is that song.

After graduating from Georgia Southern University with a degree in marketing, the first thing Cole Swindell did was hit the road. But it wasn't as a musician; Swindell landed a job selling merchandise on fellow Sigma Chi member Luke Bryan's tours, lasting with Bryan until singing a publishing deal with Sony/ATV Music Publishing in 2010.

After signing the deal, Swindell wrote top-10 hits for Craig Campbell ("Outta My Head"), Bryan ("Rollercoaster"), Thomas Rhett ("Get Me Some of That") and Florida-Georgia Line ("This Is How We Roll"). He also wrote several album tracks for Bryan and Scotty McCreery.

After releasing the single "Chillin' It" independently, Swindell signed with Warner Brothers Records in 2013. After agreeing to the deal, the first person he called was his father, William. It would be the final time Swindell spoke to his father, who died suddenly and unexpectedly in September. Cole would release his self titled debut album in February of 2014, but felt there was a song he still had to write.

Swindell is currently in the studio, working on his as yet unnamed second album, and that song he needed to write is in our spotlight today. A song Cole Swindell wrote for his father and the lead single to his new album "You Should Be Here" is today's Catch of the Day, new music you haven't heard, but you'll want to hear it again.
