Its Unsigned/Indy Artist Thursday, and as is our practice, we present one of the best young, unsigned or indy label performers that Nashville has to offer. Today we feature a Texas troubadour with an old soul and a modern heart, who has made the rounds in his home state and is now ready to break through in Nashville.

As the bandleader for the club Cowboys in Dallas and San Antonio, Marty Heddin has had the opportunity to open for some of the biggest names in country music. Born and raised in Garland, TX, Heddin found his voice (and his passion for country music) singing tenor in his church choir. He began immersing himself in country music, and before long made his way onto the Texas Opry circuit, performing in night spots, county fairs and concert halls across the state. His smooth, classic tone and full speed stage presence caught the attention of Bobby Smith, who was the band leader for Cowboys in Dallas, who hired the singer to lead the club's band.

His time at Cowboys and his touring Texas have given him the opportunity to open for artists like Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney and Toby Keith, and his Texas swing influences, up-tempo twang and southern soul have all come together at the right time, peaking in his self-titled debut, six-song EP, produced by Keith Steagall.

We have the lead single from that EP in our spotlight today. Marty Heddin stays true to his influences George Strait and Vince Gill, with "Game Changer", our Unsigned/Indy Artist Thursday Catch of the Day, new music you haven't heard, but you'll want to hear it again.
