Today's spotlight falls on a group who was formed in Nashville, but four of whom hail from Virginia.

The founding members of Old Dominion first became known as writers in Nashville before joining forces as a group. Singer Matt Ramsay wrote the #1 single "Chainsaw" for The Band Perry and guitarist Trevor Rosen wrote "Woke Up Lovin' You" for Craig Morgan and "Say You Will" for Dierks Bentley. Rosen also co-wrote Chris Young's "Neon" and The Band Perry's "Better Dig Two". The pair also wrote songs for the ABC series Nashville.

The group burst on the scene with their debut single "Dirt On The Road", which received some attention from radio. They followed it up with "Shut Me Up", the lead single from their self titled EP, produced by Shane McAnally. But it wasn't until the groups third single, "Break Up With Him", that the band really perked some ears. On the strength of the song, they went from play clubs and small local venues to opening for some of the biggest names in country music, like Kenny Chesney Big Revival tour.

Old Dominion signed with RCA Nashville in February, and is currently in the studio working on their first full length album. While the album will feature the singles from the EP, there is also plenty more where that come from, like the song in the spotlight today, the first music to come strictly from that project, the lead single from their debut album. Old Dominions and "Nowhere Fast" is today's Catch of the Day, new music you haven't heard, but you'll want to hear it again.
