It's Unsigned/Indy Artist Thursday, and today we feature an artist who discovered, that in order to move forward, sometimes you have to go back to where you came from.

Parker Willingham is an artist possessing a powerful voice and soulful delivery who jumps from ballad to country rock with an amazing ease. This singer, songwriter and musician made the move to Nashville about 4 years ago, but when recording his debut album found what he was looking for, was actually in the Florida pan handle all along.

Willingham was born and raised in the Florida panhandle town of Niceville, a peaceful waterside community near Destin, FL. His youth was spent on the gulfside beaches boating, shrimping and hunting in the back country. Parker grew up in a household where music was always in the air, and his strong love for music became a driving passion at a young age, leading to his beginning to write songs as a teen. After high school, he attended the local Junior College, playing baseball and trying to find out where his roads led. Parker recorded an indie project of those first songs, and after entering (and winning) several local music contests, he packed his bags and headed to Nashville with a dream.

Wanting to make music his life work, Parker met and collaborated several other songwriters while playing writer's showcases in the area, he began crafting new songs and finding deeper ways to tell his stories. It also gave him confidence and a new edge to his voice and style while singing in clubs and at festivals. These performances led to several opportunities to showcase his music, including sever tours overseas, including Switzerland.

It also led to a chance meeting, where his father met Kate Hart of the Apple Row music group. Hart offered the opportunity of studio time to produce his music and the support to get the music out. Parker would spend months traveling back home to record the album, then traveling back to Nashville during the week. The finished project, Willingham's debut album We Got It Alright, was the perfect showcase of his soulful, powerful ballads and kick-tail country rock. The album is currently available at iTunes and Parker's website; the songs can also be found at his YouTube channel.
