It's Thursday, and once again we are featuring one of Nashville's great unsigned or indy label artist that we feel you need to know. Today's artist is the son of minister who comes from a very musical family, who's vocal abilities were evident to anyone in his father's ministry from a very early age.

Phil Vaught started singing in church at a very young age. His parents, who always encouraged their son's obvious ability, bought Phil a drum set at age 11. Not only was the young singer adept at singing gospel music, but through his father he also learned about country singers like Hank Williams, Johnny Cash and the Statler Brothers. From his older brothers, he learned about Hank Jr, Elvis Presley, Merle Haggard and others.

He moved to the Nashville in 2003, playing 200 shows a year around the Nashville area, across the eastern part of the country and overseas.

His most recent project, Drive, released in 2014, has been a success an indie artist, receiving radio airplay at stations nationwide motivated him and to release a new single from the album, with a little help from Vince Gill on harmonies. Available on iTunes and CDBaby, it;s brought to you by All American Super Car Wash of Lawton, Phil Vaught featuring Vince Gill and "She's Got A Single Thing In Mind" is our Unsigned/Indy Artist Thursday Catch of the Day, new music you haven't heard, but you'll want to hear it again.
