Today is Unsigned/Indy Artist Thursday on the Catch of the Day and today's featured artist is a native of North Carolina and a second generation actress, hoping to make her name in country music.

Rainey Qualley is recently released her debut album, after moving to Nashville to pursue songwriting. The daughter of actress Andie MacDowell, Qualley has made appearances on the silver screen, including 2012's Mighty Fine followed by Falcon Song and Pink & Baby Blue, both released in 2014. Among her musical influences, Qualley sites a diverse group of artists, including Johnny Cash, Van Morrison,  Dolly Parton, the Temptations, Patsy Cline, Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding, Bob Dylan and Mavis Staples.

Qualley's says her goals are simple...she wants to make the most popular album in the history of the world. Well, if you're going to set goals, you might as well shoot for the stars. She is off to fulfill that goal, stepping into our spotlight today with the second single from her debut project, Turn Down The Lights, which was released June 2nd.
