Today's catch of the day comes from an up-and coming singer/songwriter from Columbus, GA, who won back-to-back awards as top male country singer from the Georgia Music Awards in 2011 and 2012.This artist has opened for the likes of Travis Tritt, Tyler Farr and Gary Allan, earning him a reputation as one of the hardest-working performers in Georgia.

Born and raised outside of Columbus, Georgia, Ricky Gunn grew up like many southern boys, spending his time fishing, hunting, chasing girls and speeding down dirt roads. During visits to his grandfather’s house, though, he also discovered a love of country music, especially the old-school songwriting of Hank Williams, Conway Twitty and Waylon Jennings. Those artists told stories. They cast moods. They packed a punch. Later, when his grandfather gave him an acoustic guitar and taught him three basic chords, the teenaged Gunn transformed himself into a songwriter virtually overnight, finishing his first tune by the end of the week.

Years later, Gunn is still writing songs. His debut album, King of this Town, mixes those influences with modern-day firepower, creating a sound all its own. Gunn calls the album a biography of his life, familiar to anyone who works hard during the week to support the people they love.

The debut album, is in our spotlight today. With the second single from the project Ricky Gunn and “Livin’ Like Me,” is our Catch of the Day, new music you haven't heard, but you'll want to hear it again
