‘Catch of the Day’ – Tarra Layne [VIDEO]

Today's Unsigned/Indy Artist Catch of the Day comes to us from an artist who definitely brings a touch of soul to her country music.

With influences that range from Amy Winehouse to Grace Potter to Susan Tedeschi to Miranda Lambert, Tarra Layne's musical style is a wonderful stew of sounds that tempts the musical palate. A strong mix of country, southern rock and soul, Shawn grew up in the Pittsburgh, PA area, the same region that gave us Taylor Swift. There must be something in that Steel City Water that makes for great musical sounds.

Combining her heavy 90s R&B upbringing with a love for rock, blues and country, Tarra is uprooting and constructing a style of her own. It has been referred to as Funktry due to her big, soulful timbre, southern attitude, and contemporary twist.

Tarra is currently in the studio, working on her next third EP, featuring the full spectrum of her sound. The first single is just the beginning of a new musical journey for all to experience, and its in our spotlight today.
