Sara Evans‘ version of ‘My Heart Can’t Tell You No’ may be a cover, but she has certainly made the song all her own, as evidenced further with her performance of the ‘Stronger’ single at the 2012 ACM Awards. Evans sailed through her live rendition of ‘My Heart Can’t Tell You No’ — a copy of Simon Climie and Dennis Morgan’s 1988 original version – and she had the crowd screaming by the close of her strong vocal performance.
Toby Keith began his performance of his monster hit ‘Red Solo Cup’ while walking through the crowd at the 2012 ACM Awards tonight (April 1) with a — you guessed it — red Solo cup in one hand and a microphone in the other. The singer roamed amongst the people for the course of the entire song, and most of the audience members were also holding their own disposable receptacles — aka the things that are not just a cup but a friend. Nothing like a prop to make a point!
Instead of shedding more tears to honor the passing of Earl Scruggs, Reba McEntire and Blake Shelton led a celebration of the bluegrass legend’s life during Sunday night’s ACM Awards in Las Vegas. After the crowd stood to applaud Scruggs, McEntire introduced Rascal Flatts and comedian turned banjo player Steve Martin to sing ‘Banjo.’
After a heated battle with other up-and-coming country artists, Scotty McCreery managed to garner the most fan votes to take home the Best New Artist trophy at the 2012 ACM Awards. McCreery, who has gone on to top the country charts with his debut album and single after hit single since winning season 10 of ‘American Idol,’ was absolutely overjoyed to be crowned the Best New Artist at the ACMs, and he could hardly contain his excitement.
Wearing his signature white cowboy hat, Brad Paisley performed ‘Camouflage’ at the 2012 ACM Awards tonight (April 1). He did so after he was introduced by his buddy and tourmate Scotty McCreery, who offered up a half performance of ‘Water Tower Town’ moments before. Life imitated art as Paisley wore a black and grey camo pattern button-down for his performance.
Lady Antebellum made a theatrical entrance to the stage at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Sunday night. Moments after winning their third straight award for Vocal Group of the Year, the trio emerged from the smoke to sing ‘Dancing Away With My Heart.’
Tonight has been a great night for country crooner Jason Aldean and his pop counterpart Kelly Clarkson! Following their win for Vocal Event of the Year, Aldean and Clarkson took home yet another trophy at the 2012 ACM Awards for ‘Don’t You Wanna Stay’ when they snagged the award for Single Record of the Year.
Eric Church was such a multi-tasker when he performed his single ‘Springsteen,’ which is a reference to the one and only Bruce (aka The Boss), who is an artist that Church reveres, at the 2012 ACM Awards tonight (April 1). Church began the song while standing and playing the piano, with his guitar strapped to his person. It didn’t look exactly comfortable with a guitar-as-appendage, protruding from his side, but he didn’t miss a beat or a note.
Sunday night’s 2012 ACM Awards was the all-star game for country music in Las Vegas. The top names came together to celebrate another year’s worth of accomplishments, perform new music and of course work the red carpet in the latest fashions.
“Look mom, Kiss!” Charles Kelley said after thanking fans and country radio for helping them win another Vocal Group of the Year Award at the 47th annual ACM Awards in Las Vegas. The rockers presented the award, wearing full makeup and costumes. It’s about as loud and scary as anyone will ever be when shouting “Lady Antebellum!”
Jason Aldean was just one of the many performers taking the stage at the 2012 ACM Awards on April 1, and the country rocker performed his latest single off of ‘My Kinda Party,’ the midtempo anthemic track, ‘Fly Over States.’ As usual, Aldean, who won the ACM award for Vocal Event of the Year earlier for his collaboration with Kelly Clarkson, ‘Don’t You Wanna Stay,’ gave a great performance with his backing band.
