On Dec. 14, we started our first CANS Food Festival where those that shopped at Country Mart could donate canned goods to go to the Lawton Food Bank.

Gov. Mary Fallin announced earlier today that Oklahoma will be the testing site for unmanned aircraft system. The tests will be conducted in restricted airspace over Fort/Sill.
Lawton’s International Festival gathers together cultures from around the world and exposes our community to a variety of foods, clothes, international customs, and music.
Much need it funding has been awarded to the State of Oklahoma to help with the housing of homeless veterans. Three housing agencies in Oklahoma will split $381,311. The Department of Housinig and Urban Development officials said the money will supply permanent housing and case management for 90 homeless veterans. The government also added that the number of vouchers now in use is up to 345.
On Tuesday, the Lawton’s Mayor hosted the Lawton’s Summit for Women ‘Stronger Women Make Stronger Families Make Stronger Communities.” The event aimed at targeting challenges our community needs to overcome.
