Just when you thought the buzz around Netflix’s Making a Murderer had died down, the overturned conviction of Steven Avery’s “accomplice” Brendan Dassey got followers buzzing. Now, weeks away from Avery’s new lawyer Kathleen Zellner filing a new appeal, a new report suggests that an alternate suspect could finally clear Avery’s name.

Even as Netflix’s Fuller House breezed right past our derision into a second season, the sitcom sequel may never live down its bizarre shade at the Olsen twins, either of which declined to reprise their role as Michelle for even the basest cameo. Now, filmmakers Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos respond to the shocking news, as well do former Avery lawyers Jerry Buting and Dean Strang.

Netflix has already announced a second season of Making a Murderer, their surprise hit true-crime series that captured the nation’s imagination last winter. The streaming service confirmed last month that filmmakers Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos were already at work on a second batch of episodes “centering on new developments in the [Steven] Avery and [Brendan] Dassey cases. If that’s true, their show just got a huge real-life plot twist.

The ten-year production of Netflix’s Making a Murderer leaves it unclear what a confirmed second season will chronicle, but there may at least be some in-house drama to start. Following Avery’s recent words decrying series breakout laywers Jerry Buting and Dean Strang, the former has now made a statement on his ex-client’s claims.

Once the patron saint of TV rescues, Netflix seems more focused on its own original content than picking up stragglers, but the wealth of Marvel content had Agent Carter fans optimistic Peggy might live out Season 3 on the streaming service. Sadly not so, as Netflix bosses now admit “it was a business decision more than a creative one.”

Marvel’s Netflix Daredevil first bucked our conceptions of the four Defenders series with a second season, so it’s only fitting ol’ Hornhead continue the trend at Comic-Con 2016. Even as Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Defenders gear up for 2017, Marvel and Netflix confirm Daredevil Season 3 will arrive sometime thereafter.

Those who powered through all eight hours of Netflix’s Stranger Things know the supernatural drama wears many influences on its sleeve, often out-and-out referencing famous Spielberg movies, or even legendary author Stephen King. King heartily seems to approve of the comparison, however, sharing his praise for Stranger Things online.
