Another ‘Batman v Superman’ TV Spot Features a Little Passive Aggressive Introduction
Following the debut of the first official TV spot, Warner Bros. has released another spot for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, this one expanding upon a scene previously teased in the trailer, in which Henry Cavill’s Clark Kent and Ben Affleck’s Bruce Wayne have a not-so-meet-cute at a party. While the first spot featured our heroes clashing a bit more aggressively in costume, this one offers a passive-aggressive meeting between the two men as their civilian alter-egos, interrupted by that weasel Lex Luthor.
Whatever happens with Batman v Superman, Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor may very well steal the show with his cartoonish portrayal of the classic Superman villain just one fake mustache-twirl away from utter caricature. There’s been some talk that Eisenberg based his portrayal of the villain on screenwriter Max Landis, who has developed a bit of a bad rap among critics and industry folks alike. Landis himself agrees that Eisenberg was clearly inspired by the screenwriter, and the two have met before, as Landis scripted Eisenberg’s stoner action-rom-com American Ultra.
Anyway! The previous spot / clip had Batman attempting to hit Superman with the Batmobile, though he was no match for the Man of Steel and his super-powers. This clip gives the two a chance to interact out of costume, engaging in a bit of civil / passive-aggressive debate before our favorite cartoon villain gleefully interrupts.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters on March 25.
