Wildfires, residential fires and storm damage have all played a major roll in bringing down the balance of Lawton's American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. Local Red Cross officials hope an upcoming benefit breakfast will help.

The public is invited to the breakfast provided by the Mason's Pilot Lodge #367. It'll be Saturday, August 18th from 7-10am at the lodge, 8190 North Highway 17 in Elgin. Cost is a donation to the America Red Cross to help the Lawton office's disaster services. Biscuits and gravy, eggs and pancakes are among the menu items.

According to Red Cross Regional Director of Communications Ken Garcia, the American Red Cross Great Plains Office in Lawton serves six counties in Southwest Oklahoma. Since July of 2011 disaster response volunteers were called to 51 different events and assisted 47 families - none of which could be done without the help of volunteers and contributions from the community.
