Our featured artist today on Unsigned/Indy Artist Thursday has already begun to make his way in Nashville as a Songwriter. He is another former college baseball player, but his musical influences run much deeper, going back to when he was a young kid and starting banging on his dad's drum kit.

Adam Doleac didn't start taking music seriously until, now stop me if you've heard this before, he playing baseball in college and picked up a guitar and learned to play. But Doleac's musical journey started long before that. At just two years old, his father Donnie taught him a drum beat, and he spent his childhood playing along to artists like Puddle of Mudd, John Mayer and 3 Doors Down. Throughout his early years, the Hattiesberg, MS native could be likely found playing baseball, football or golf than he could behind the drum kit. He was such a good athlete that after high school graduation, he accepted a baseball scholarship to the University of Southern Mississippi, turning down scholarship offers from other schools to play golf or basketball. At USM, Doleac played all four years, winning three Conference USA Championships and playing in the 2009 College World Series.

It was while playing college ball that Doleac began his journey to Nashville. His roommates, all players on the USM baseball team, were guitar players and he learned to play from them. After quickly becoming a pretty good player, he began writing songs and was instantly bitten. While playing ball at USM he wrote, produced and released his debut EP, touring to support it on weekends and during the summer. While preparing songs for the EP, he would travel to Nashville on weekends and school breaks, writing four of the songs on the project. When it was released, more than 1000 people showed up for the release party, many from the college and from his home town of Hattiesberg.

Early success forced a decision of Doleac when his college days were up. So in October of 2012 he moved to Nashville, and within a year, he signed with manager Jake LaGrone, and in 2015 he had signed a publishing deal with Sony/ATV music and has had songs recorded by Kenny Chesney, Darius Rucker, Rascal Flatts and others. He recently released his second EP, a self-
