Today we focus on a young duo who recently launched their first headlining tour, playing in Tulsa just last night. A duo that has met "bro-country" head-on and has shown they are up to the challenge.

Singers, songwriters, guitarist...Madison Marlow and Taylor Dye have it covered. From the first time we heard the opening chords of "Girl In A Country Song". Originally performing under the name Sweet Aliana, Maddie & Tae were first discovered by Big Machine Records when they were in their mid-teens. Maddie Marlow and Tae Dye were groomed by Big Machine executive Aaron Scherz, who worked with the girls on their song writing and performances. Their harmonies came naturally to Dye, a native of Ada, OK and Marlow, who was born and raised in Sugarland, TX.

The duo co-wrote their debut single with Scherz, produced by Dan Huff. It took on the current "bro-country" trend, fighting the odds during a 23 week climb to #1. "Girl In A Country Song" became only the second debut single by a female duo in country music history to make it to #1, the first since The Wreckers and "Leave The Pieces" in 2006. Their second single, "Fly" also took the scenic route to the top 10, spending close to 9 months climbing the charts before peaking at #8.

The pair released a self-titled, 4 track EP, featuring the singles, as well as "Sierra" and "Your Side of Town"; the duo wrote or co-wrote all four songs. The songs were featured on Start Here, their debut album released in August. They toured the summer as an opening act on Dierks Bentley's Riser tour, and on October 2nd, launched the Start Here tour, their first as a headline act, in New York City.

The album is poised for Gold Certification, and the third single from the disc is in our spotlight today. Maddie & Tae with "Shut Up And Fish" is today's Catch of the Day, new music you haven't heard, but you'll want to hear it again.
