Elvis Presley’s Underwear Up for Auction
If you’ve ever wanted to own a one-of-a-kind piece of Elvis Presley memorabilia, now is your chance! A well-worn pair of light blue briefs — stains and all — will go up for auction soon, and is expected to fetch upwards of nearly $16,000.
According to media reports, the underwear was acquired from Presley’s father, Vernon Presley, after a house auction. Reportedly, the King wore the undergarment during a 1977 show — the year of Presley’s unexpected passing. Avid fans recently gathered at the singer’s famed Graceland estate to commemorate the 35-year anniversary of Presley’s death on Aug. 16.
A more tasteful trinket of Presley’s life up for auction is his personal Bible, which was given to the singer during his first Christmas at Graceland in 1957. The prized possession contains many handwritten notes, thoughts, annotations and underlined verses. The Bible is expected to bring in nearly $40,000.
“What is a man advantaged if he gain the whole world and lose himself or be cast away” — from Luke 9:25 — is one of the many passages underlined by the late King.
Also up for auction is a 16mm film footage taken from Priscilla Presley’s own personal home movies of the singer. The footage includes their famous nuptials, the Graceland homecoming of their daughter, Lisa Marie, and many more special family moments.
The sale is set to take place in Manchester, England on Sept, 8. Omega Auctions plans to stream the event live through their official website. And if you’re really curious, click here for a picture of Presley’s underwear.
