Our Fort Sill Update this week features Garrison Commander Col. Paul Hossenlopp, as MG Mark McDonald is traveling once again.

Our update begins with a story that we had right here at klaw.com.  Three Fort Sill soldiers receiving Bronze Stars from the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Dempsey.  Once again, Fort Sill and it's soldiers shine!

Other items in this week's update include:

  • Soldier selected for the All Army Golf Trail Camp

Congratulations to Capt. Joseph Cave, who was named to the All Army Golf Trail Camp.  He is one of 18 selected Army wide.  The camp will be held in September at Fort Jackson, SC.

  • West Nile virus prevention

With the reports of the most recent Oklahoma deaths due to this virus, Fort Sill wants to remind us of some ways to help prevent this virus from affecting our soldiers and loved ones.  First, we must protect ourselves from mosquito bites, by removing any standing water, and using insect repellent containing at least 30 percent DEET.  Next, we can wear long sleeves and pants, and finally, avoid areas near water or wetlands.
