The field is now set for the 54th running of the "Great American Race" the Daytona 500 on Sunday. As I told you in an earlier post this week the front row for the Daytona 500 was set on Sunday with Carl Edwards taking the top spot and Greg Biffle getting the number 2 spot in the race. Then on yesterday the rest of the field was set during the  twin 150-mile qualifying races known as Gatorade Duals at the  Daytona International Speedway with determined the full starting grid for NASCAR's version of the Super Bowl, with Tony Stewart and Matt Kenseth winning their respective Gatorade Duel races.

Tony Stewart won  first Gatorade Duel under caution, earning the right to start Sunday's Daytona 500 in the third position behind pole-sitter Carl Edwards and Greg Biffle in the number 2 spot. This was Tony Stewart's third Gatorade Duel win of his career, Stewart also won in 2005 and 2007. In the most exciting race of the two yesterday Matt Kenseth made a great pass on the final lap to win the second race at the Gatorade Duals.

But the biggest story of the day was Danica Patrick, who left the INDY car circuit this year to join NASCAR full time in both the Nationwide and Sprint Cup series. She battled all day and was near the front of the pay when she was suffled to the back of the pack where Danica ran in so problems, Danica made contact with Aric Almirola which send Patrick at  full speed into the inside retaining wall on the backstretch. I have posted the video of the wreck below and the good new for Danica is she walked away from the wreck and was not hurt.
