Garth Brooks Breaks His Own Record – Today In Country Music History [VIDEO]

Garth Brooks’ album Double Live became the first album by any artist ever to sell 1 million copies in its first week of release. It has been certified 21× Platinum by the RIAA (10.5 million shipped as it a double album); it is the seventh most shipped album in the U.S. The album was originally released November 17, 1998 with a commemorative cover. In each of the next six weeks, another commemorative cover was released, each themed with one of Brooks' live performances.
The album was re-released on September 5, 2014.

Garth Brooks’ album Sevens set a record for the best first-week sales by a country artist when it sold 897,000 copies.
The album featured the singles "Longneck Bottle" (#1), "She's Gonna Make It" (#2), "Two Pina Coladas" (#1), "Do What You Gotta Do" (#13), "You Move Me" (#3) and "In Another's Eyes" (#2 - duet with Tricia Yearwood), won the Grammy Award for Best Country Collaboration with Vocals at the Grammy Awards of 1998.
777,777 copies of Sevens were marked as First Editions. These albums have a gold seal on the CD booklet and a similar mark on the CD itself. Canadian versions of the albums have a maple leaf shaped seal on the cover. First Editions were not released outside of North America.
