Happy Birthday to the US Army!
The U. S. Army turns 246 years old this week, and a celebration is waiting just for you! Fort Sill's Fire Center of Excellence invites you to celebrate the history and heritage of the United States Army.
There will be live music with the famed 77th Army Band, food, games and much more! Come out to Pritchard Field Friday, June 11th, beginning at 6pm. There will be lots of fun and entertainment to add to the celebration! Food trucks will be on hand as well!
If you haven't had the opportunity to hear the 77th Army band, you are in for a treat. These soldiers are true musicians, and they play music from all different types of genre's. Until the pandemic shut down such gatherings, the 77th Army band could be found at different events and occasions.
June 14th, which is flag day is the actual birthday of the Army. Appropriate, don't you think. The flag that the U. S. Army defends, and the Army share a day to celebrate. This weekend actually gives you several opportunities to celebrate, the flag, and the Army as we hold a belated Armed Forces Day Parade, Saturday, June 12 beginning in Downtown Lawton. The parade begins in downtown, on C Ave, and will make it's way west to Fort Sill Boulevard, then North to Ferris, and finally East toward 2nd Street and ending in Elmer Thomas Park, where several static displays of the US Army's fire power will be on display.
Celebrate the Army and the Flag this weekend and Thank God for our neighbors to the North! (Fort Sill, not Kansas!)
