
Lawton Open Streets Returns September 19 With Free Family Fitness Fun
The Lawton-Fort Sill Open Streets Committee has announced that the fall Open Streets will take place Saturday, Sept. 19 in downtown Lawton. The fall event's theme this year is "Healthy Bodies, Healthy Brains," highlighting the importance physical health and overall well-being.
The fall Open Streets will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on C Avenue between 2nd Street and 5th Street in downtown Lawton. The streets will be closed for the event allowing visitors to play in the streets.
How To Participate In Lawton's Open Streets
The committee is currently accepting applications for participation in the fall open streets. Businesses and organizations can be a part of Open Streets by signing up to host a family-friendly physical activity or a game promoting a healthy community. Activities must be provided at no cost to attendees.
Businesses and organizations interested in participating have till Sept. 10 to submit an online application to be a part of Open Streets.
What To Expect At Lawton's Open Streets
Open Streets is hosted twice a year in downtown Lawton along C Avenue. Each event features various vendors and local businesses and organizations hosting physical activities and games for attendees. The event also features multiple activities for children and families, like Zumba, bike riding, yoga, etc. All of the activities and games at Open Streets are free and open to the pubilc.
Open Streets is hosted by the Lawton-Fort Sill Open Streets Committee, which is comprised of members from the Fit Kids of Southwest Oklahoma, Memorial Health Systems of Southwest Oklahoma, TSET Healthy Living Program, City National Bank and the City of Lawton.
