While it remains one of the younger states in the union, Oklahoma has a deeper history than you think. The Sooner State has been the territory of four different countries... Spain, France (Louisiana), The Republic of Texas, and the USA.

Oklahoma also features more diversity, ecologically speaking, than almost any other bordered place in the world. Add in the history of Indian Territory and the land runs that welcomed settlers and the short history since then is just as interesting.

The locations of these historic homes all exist North of I-40 in a sort of triangle of travel between OKC, Tulsa, and the I-35 corridor of North-Central Oklahoma. Still, each one is definitely worth the trip if you love history as much as most people do.
