Recently, WalletHub released a study of the best small cities across America. A few Oklahoma towns made the list but the results left us wondering if they truly captured what makes our state's small towns so special.

While cities like Lawton and Edmond might be considered "small" to the rest of the world, Oklahomans know that the real gems are tucked farther away in smaller communities. These are the towns with charm and character that you won't find anywhere else.

If there's one season where their charm truly shines, it's fall. From fiery foliage and scenic drives and historic main streets, these towns aren't just worth the drive - they're some of the best places to experience autumn in the state.

WalletHub study says that Oklahoma has nine of the best small towns in the country.

Out of all of the truly small towns in Oklahoma, many of those that were mentioned in the WalletHub study took us by surprise; mainly because these towns aren't really small, compared to some of our local favorites.
