Golf Scramble Raises Funds for Wichita Falls Veterans
Commander Joel Jimenez was recently interviewed on KFDX about an upcoming fundraiser for veterans right here in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Golfers will gather at Burkburnett’s Rivercreek Golf Course. Not just for sport, but for service. The Wichita Falls Chapter of Disabled American Veterans is gearing up for its 13th Annual Golf Scramble on April 4, an event that blends friendly competition with a serious mission: supporting local veterans in need.
For $100 per person, players will take to the greens in a four-man scramble, but the impact of their participation goes well beyond the fairways. The proceeds help provide medical assistance, transportation to VA appointments, and aid for homeless veterans. Funds also support essential medical equipment and assist veterans in navigating the often complex process of filing benefit claims.
With a 1 p.m. tee time, the tournament offers more than just an afternoon of golf. it’s a chance for the community to come together in a show of gratitude. Organizers say each year’s event strengthens local support networks for veterans, ensuring that those who served are not left behind when they need help the most.

For many participants, the tournament is personal. Some are veterans themselves, while others are family members, friends, or supporters who recognize the sacrifices made by those who wore the uniform. The event has grown steadily over the years, becoming both a tradition and a crucial fundraiser for the chapter’s work.
