North Texas Teen Makes Homecoming Mum Out of Lego
This week was LITERALLY the first day of school for many kids in Texas and it's crazy that in the first week the bar has been set on homecoming mums.
Not trying to be a negative Nancy here, but are homecoming mums traditionally made in August? Also are people already asking each other to homecoming in August? Nothing against these two high school kids, but I really thought I had stumbled upon a story from last year, but no. This actually happened just this week.
Check Out Lego Homecoming Mum
Thomas Treece lives in Allen and apparently his girlfriend is a huge fan of Legos. So he showed off that he has made a homecoming mum for this year's dance made entirely out of Lego bricks. He showed off the process of building it on his YouTube page. He actually imported some Lego pieces from other parts of the world that he thought would make the design really pop. His girlfriend, plans to wear the Lego mum using a lanyard.
Texas' Obsession with Homecoming Mums
This crazy tradition started sometime in the 1930's for Texas, according to reports. However, the popularity really exploded in the 1950's. No one really knows why this tradition started except we always use the excuse, 'Everything is bigger in Texas'. One person claims that these mums are so extravagant and huge that a girl could technically show up to school naked and no one would know because these things are so crazy big.
