The United States of America's newest military branch now has an official song, but does it hit the mark?

In keeping with the traditions of the United States Military, the song was written to inspire pride within the ranks of the Force and to instill national pride in the rest of the country when the song is performed.

The songs, or hymns, for each branch of the US military also boast about the bravery and commitment of its individual members, and oftentimes brag on their accomplishments, though only a few are mentioned specifically.

In the US Navy's song, "Anchors Aweigh", the lyrics paint the service as steadfast in the face of the enemy, warning them to "steer shy":

Stand Navy out to sea,
Fight our battle cry;
We'll never change our course,
So vicious foe steer shy-y-y-y.
Roll out the TNT,
Anchors Aweigh.
Sail on to victory
And sink their bones to Davy Jones, hooray!

The United States Marines' hymn concentrates on the fact that the Marines will fight anywhere, anytime, "From the halls of Montezuma to the shores of Tripoli... in the air, on land and sea." The hymn even promises to protect other branches of the US military, even in Heaven:

Here's health to you and to our Corps
Which we are proud to serve
In many a strife we've fought for life
And never lost our nerve;
If the Army and the Navy
Ever look on Heaven's scenes;
They will find the streets are guarded
By United States Marines.

The US Army's hymn is one that mentions some of its accomplishments specifically from Valley Forge to Patton's tanks.

Valley Forge, Custer’s ranks,

San Juan Hill and Patton’s tanks,

And the Army went rolling along.

Minute men, from the start,

Always fighting from the heart,

And the Army keeps rolling along.

And the United States Air Force has a hymn that makes you want to fly like a bird with its "into the wild blue yonder" lyrics:

Off we go into the wild blue yonder,
Climbing high into the sun;
Here they come zooming to meet our thunder,
At ‘em now, Give 'em the gun! give em the gun!

It starts off nice and peaceful like, and then they show the business end of their F-16s.

And the Coast Guard vows to always protect, damn the seas:

We're always ready for the call,
We place our trust in Thee.
Through surf and storm and howling gale,
High shall our purpose be.

These songs, to many people and most veterans, are instantly recognizable within the first few notes. Will the new United States Space Force hymn elicit the same response?

Only time will tell, as we need time to learn the song, I guess.

The name of the Space Force hymn is "Semper Supra" which is Latin for "Always Above", and the lyrics were written by Jamie Teachenor, a Country Music singer/songwriter who was, at one time, a member of the United States Air Force Band.

Here are the lyrics to the United States Space Force hymn:

We're the mighty watchful eye,
Guardians beyond the blue,
The invisible front line,
Warfighters brave and true.
Boldly reaching into space,
There's no limit to our sky.
Standing guard both night and day,
We're the Space Force from on high.

Will the song instill national pride and pride within the service when heard? I guess that only time will give answers to those questions. Here's a behind-the-scenes video about the creation of the hymn.
