KLAW’s Nancy Mace Reviews Her Favorite Photography Apps! [PHOTOS]
I am not a professional photographer, but with the digital world booming and all the free apps out there, it makes it easier to take beautiful pictures. Even if you are not a photographer you and I can still have fun and create pin-worthy prints! Here are my all time favorite photo apps that are really easy to use!
Instagram is basically an app that allows you to add certain filters to your photos. You can give photos a sharper color, make them look like vintage prints, give them soft edges or even put a frame around them. Here is an example of a photo that I created with Instagram.
PhotoShake - With PhotoShake you can combine one or more photos to make fun new images. You select up to 6 photos and then shake your phone or tablet and it rearranges them each time. Add borders and colors and you have a fun new picture. Here is one I did of all the on air staff here.
PhotoGrid - Is basically the same as PhotoShake but you don't have to shake your phone or tablet. You can manipulate the photos yourself and put them on fun scrapbook looking backgrounds. Here is one that I did of some Oklahoma wildflower pictures I took.
I use a Cannon PowerShot SX110 IS that I usually grab as I follow my husband out the door. It's difficult to carry a large camera when you are on a quick outing like that. I find this just the right size to throw in my pocket in case I see something I want to photograph. Then I can download the photos to my computer and use these apps to play with my photos.
I also have the Samsung Galaxy Tablet SCH-1800. I can carry it in my purse to take pictures if I'm at an event and I can directly upload them to Facebook or Twitter. I can also use the apps directly on my tablet.
There are lots of image manipulations applications available. Here is an article I found that might help you decide which one(s) you should download.
I would love to see some of your results. Send your InstaGram, PhotoShake or PhotoGrid pictures to me. pics@klaw.com
