I'm counting down the days to sweet summertime! And Lawton residents won't have to wait much longer to enjoy days by the pool or running around one of the local splash pads. The City of Lawton is set to open all of its aquatic facilities on Monday, May 25.

This summer, Lawton residents will get to enjoy the first full season of the brand new Aquatic Center in Elmer Thomas Park! The City of Lawton will also open various wading pools and splash pads, including a new splash pad at Lee West Park.

The City of Lawton will host a free Memorial Day Lap Swim at the new Aquatic Center on opening day.

The true start of summer is Memorial Day weekend, and the City of Lawton will mark the day with a Memorial Day Lap Swim at the new Aquatic Center on Monday, May 25. Admission will be free on this day at the Lawton Aquatic Center, and registered swimmers can take part in the Memorial Day Lap Swim from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to honor fallen service members.

Swimmers can register for the Memorial Day Lap Swim online.

After opening day, the Lawton Aquatic Center will be open weekly from 1-8 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and 1-5 p.m. on Sundays. The center will be closed on Mondays for maintenance.

Lawton's wading pools and splash pads will also open on Monday, May 25.

Wading pools will be open from 1-5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Below are the parks where wading pools are located.

  • 35th Division Park
  • Harmon Park
  • Mocine Park

Lee West Park splash pad will open at a later date.

The splash pads at Elmer Thomas Park and KidZone (Greer Park) will be open from 8a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. And the Clement Washington Sr. Splash Pad will open from 1-5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

A new splash pad is currently under construction at Lee West Park and is set to be open at a later date. Hopefully it will be up and ready this summer!
