Lawton Community Theatre to Reopen Its Playhouse with ‘Godspell’
Lawton Community Theatre (LCT) has been displaced since the devastating hail storm that struck Lawton, Oklahoma, in June of 2023. But now LCT is ready to welcome the public back to its home at the John Denney Playhouse after a year of repairs with its season opener "Godspell" this weekend.
The theatrical nonprofit has spent the last year and a half rehearsing at local churches, conducting office business at Cameron University and hosting live productions at McMahon Memorial Auditorium. The hail storm last year left the John Denney Playhouse uninhabitable due to several hundred holes in the roof and several areas of water damage.
But although they didn't her a permanent home, Lawton Community Theatre carried on and continued its 2023-2024 season at the McMahon Memorial Auditorium. Now, after nearly a year of repairs, Lawton Community Theatre is home and will welcome the public back to the playhouse with its season opener of "Godspell."
