M4 Collective To Bring Four Mosaic Artists From Across The Country To Frederick
When I was growing up in Frederick, my grandma worked at the post office with mosaic artist Jenny Perry. I remember when Jenny first started creating mosaics and she taught my grandma how to make beautiful stepping stones for her garden. Then during a family vacation, my grandma taught us how to make mosaic stepping stones.
Today, Jenny is an award-winning mosaic artist and has an art studio in Frederick. She regularly hosts mosaic classes at her studio, and can be found at local art festivals, like Frederick's Arts N' Action and Lawton's Arts for All Festival. She has gained several friends and connections as she has progressed in the mosaics world, including three other mosaic artists she created M4 Collective with.
M4 Collective Frederick Exhibition
M4 Collective is a group of four friends who are all mosaic artists but each of them brings a unique style and viewpoint to their mosaics. The group is made up of Jenny, Jacki Gran from Florida, Julie Dilling and Shug Jones, both from Texas.
The friends met in the early 2000s but didn't form M4 Collective until 2021 as the isolation from the pandemic was a struggle for each of them. The purpose of the collective is to generate exhibition opportunities for the artists and potentially other mosaic artists.
And this month, the Frederick Arts and Humanities Council will host an M4 Collective Exhibition from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at the Lois Long Center, located at 114 N 9th Street in downtown Frederick, next to the historic Ramona Theatre.
