Miranda Lambert Spills About Playing Advisor to Blake Shelton’s ‘The Voice’ Team
Miranda Lambert has a more active role on this season of ‘The Voice.’ While she supported her husband, coach Blake Shelton, last season and performed with his finalist Dia Frampton on air, this season, she’s more deeply involved as an advisor to Shelton’s team.
Lambert chatted with the show’s social media correspondent Christina Milian to discuss her emergence from behind the scenes as a fan to in front of the camera as a mentor in Season 2. She reveals she is very involved in the happenings and understands the pressure of the situation, since she got her start on a reality talent show, too!
“I was behind the scenes all last season and I was a fan,” she recalled, adding that she didn’t want Shelton to spill any spoilers. “I said, ‘Don’t tell me anything, who stays, who goes.’ I watched as a fan.” Lambert decided to mentor on the show since she says she was a “bad back seat driver last year.” Shelton didn’t do too bad, though, as Frampton placed second and nearly won.
Lambert also spoke about some of the song choices for the live shows, which she often finds questionable, saying, “Last year, I had some issues. This year, I stayed out of it. It turns out okay.”
Lambert reminded fans that she was on ‘Nashville Star’ when she was just 19, so she can appreciate the position and perspective of the contestants. As the mentor to Shelton’s charges, she got emotionally involved, admitting, “I am attached to my six now. I am excited to watch the battle rounds. I can’t imagine being in their shoes.”
