The first look at CMT's upcoming docu-series Music City has been released, offering viewers a look at the cast of characters and the challenges they'll face in the first season.

The new teaser paints a picture of the struggle that comes with pursuing one's musical dreams in Nashville, giving a glimpse into the lives of the five main characters: Rachyl, Kerry, Jessica, Jackson and Alisa. Rachyl and Kerry are a young married couple, struggling to balance Kerry's hectic schedule as a musician constantly on the road as Rachyl feels his absence while at home taking care of their 2-year-old son. Jessica and Alisa are also aspiring country artists, searching for love in the city while pursuing their dreams. Meanwhile, Jackson spends his days as a personal trainer, but has his own aspirations when it comes to music.

The show is created by Adam DiVello, the man behind MTV's popular series The Hills, Laguna Beach and The City. "Music has always played a huge role in the storytelling process of my past series, and with Music City, we’ll take that element to another level, as we document the real-life struggles, heartaches and drama of those chasing their dreams of stardom," DiVello says in a statement to CMT. "Nashville is such an exciting city, and I can’t wait to share with the world the stories of this incredibly talented cast we’ve put together."

Music City comes in the midst of Nashville's final season. CMT General Manager Frank Tanki says the network is aiming to reach a younger demographic with the new series. Music City premieres on March 1 at 10PM ET.
