I have to admit, I have two of the three Halloween Happy Meal McBoo Buckets from Mcdonald's.  Yes, I bought them just for the bucket and just for me. Critter and his wife did the same!

A quick poll of the office found that just 3 in our office have purchased Happy Meals for themselves; all three were on-air personalities.  Could it be that the more creative we are, the more prone we are to nostalgia?

Happy Meals Didn't Originate in the United States!

Our research found that the Happy Meal actually originated in Guatemala!  In 1974, McDonald's Franchisees Jose Maria Cofiño and Yolanda Fernández de Cofiño found that children weren't able to finish their Big Mac, so Yolanda and Jose, created what they called 'Ronald's Menu', it consisted of smaller portions just for kids, and a toy.

Fast forward to 2022, and McDonald's has brought back a very popular item, the Happy Meal McBoo Bucket.  Three versions of the McBoo Bucket are available only until Halloween; the White Ghost, Green Witch, and the Orange Pumpkin. The Boo Buckets were first circulated in 1986 but will go away on Halloween, October 31, 2022, if they haven't sold out beforehand.

I love the idea that these buckets are back! When my kids were little, we got the Happy Meals often and especially at Halloween.  So, yes, their current attraction to me may be nostalgia.  I mean, who doesn't love looking back on friendlier times?  Kids actually going door to door for their treats in buckets that were free with the cost of a Happy Meal?

My daughter, who now has littles of her own had an adult friend that posted on Facebook,

"I now have all three McDonald's Boo Buckets, My life is complete."

That may be a bit dramatic, but if you know, you know! Now, I almost hate to admit that even when my kiddos were little, I liked collecting some of the Happy Meal toys.  Do you have a favorite?  My daughter and I were huge collectors of the Teeny Beanie Babies, any my son loved the Collector Match Box Cars.  Over the years, they have come up with great prizes that have become collectibles!

Whatever reason you use to get a McBoo Bucket, I have it from a fairly reliable source that the Pumpkin Bucket will be available at Lawton McDonald's starting tomorrow!  I think I just heard someone say "Lunch plans Jeri?'
