The 'Showmen's Rest' section of Mount Olivet Cemetery was purchased by D.R. Miller back in 1960 after his brother Kelly Miller passed away. He wanted to not only honor his late brother, he extended it to all circus performers and entertainers. To this day there are circus performers that are laid to rest in this cemetery.

Throughout the years additional donations have been given to ensure proper headstones and burials to any circus performers that may not have other family members or the means to pay for a final resting place.

'Showmen's Rest' at Mount Olivet Cemetery is located at 198 South 8th Street in Hugo, OK.

There are stone monuments of elephants that have the inscription 'Showmen's Rest' on their bases that mark the boundaries of the section in the cemetery where circus performers have been buried at Mount Olivet.

The grave markers are mostly circus themed and have amazing, even beautiful details. You'll get to know the person whose grave you're visiting just by looking at their headstone. A lot of them even have pictures and murals that will tell you who they were and what they did in the circus. These gravesites are truly amazing!
