Here’s When Oklahoma Starts Decorating for Halloween
The seasons are getting close to changing in Oklahoma! And when that first cool, crisp fall morning comes, Oklahomans will be itching to bust out their Halloween decorations. But when is it appropriate to start putting up Halloween decorations?
We asked our listeners on Facebook when it's appropriate to starting putting up Halloween decorations, and they had the best answers. One said they keep their Halloween decorations up all year round. And another said they still have Christmas decorations up.
But some people have strong opinions about when Halloween decorations can be put up. Although stores start setting out Halloween decorations on shelves as early as July, you don't start seeing them in homes until much closer to the holiday.
When do Oklahomans put out their Halloween decorations?
According to home extraordinaire Martha Stewart, there is no "right or wrong time" to decorate for Halloween. You can start as early in September, which is when the weather typically starts to change, except sometimes in Oklahoma. But the most popular time to start putting out Halloween decorations is during the first or second week of October.
Oklahoma is expected to have a fall-like cold front come through at the end of August, so if you're too excited to wait till October, you could start decorating for fall/Halloween before the end of the month! At the end of the day, it's your home. If decorating for Halloween before September makes you happy, go for it.
Spirit Halloween is already open. And Starbucks brought its pumpkin spice latte back earlier than ever. Why can't you put your 12-foot skeleton in your yard??
