Over the weekend, people took to the internet to frantically record where they were seeing unexplained drones in the sky. The phenomena began happening in New Jersey just after Thanksgiving and has since been occurring across the United States. Recently, mysterious drones have been spotted hovering over various areas of Oklahoma.

In response to the unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt announced Monday, Dec. 16 that he has directed state officials to "immediately procure mobile counter-UAS detection systems to support state and local law enforcement in responding to recent UAS activity."

Like everyone across the nation, Oklahomans have a lot of questions about the drones, mostly if anyone else in the state has seen them. And rightfully so, Oklahomans are concerned for their safety.

As of 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 16, there is still not a definitive answer for why these drones are appearing across the United States and now in Oklahoma. But it seems Gov. Stitt is preparing Oklahoma law enforcement to take appropriate action if needed to monitor and identify UAS.
